2 questions on bootvis

Two questions please:
1. What is the difference between bootvis.exe and bootvis.msi? The latest version of bootvis is not an .exe but a .msi file!

2. Has anybody used bootvis.exe or bootvis.msi successfully (or not) on an Dimension 8300 System? I read somewhere that bootvis has problems with Hyperthreading systems.
