560 INSPIRON SYSTEM RESTORE

I have a 560 that I need to do a factory restore on. The disk that came with the computer when it was purchased doesn't do anything when it is in the disk drive. I can hear the drive running but nothing shows up on the screen or in the computer tab. I called dell and they said that i don't need the disk to perform the restore, but I would have to pay $60. is there any truth to that? how can I do this without the disc? my OS is Windows 7. the computer was struck by lightning about 3 months ago and the data was transfered to an external HDD yesterday. PLEASE HELP

Hi whip_24,

Based on the given description I believe you want to restore the computer to factory settings.

To restore the computer to the factory settings please follow the steps mentioned in the below link:

Note: If there is any important data, please back-up the data to avoid any data loss.

Note: If the Operating System was re-installed with the OS disc then this option might not work.

For any clarifications feel free to contact me.
