64-bit quad processor accessing > 4GB RAM

Help! I'm running 64-bit xp w/ quad core intel but I can't seem to get a single job to be able to access 4+ GB of RAM despite the fact I have 16. Is there a setting or something that I missed???

I assume that you me 16 GBytes of ram.  Are you applications 64 bit aware?

Yes, sorry... I have 16GB RAM. My code is 64-bit aware. It's been compiled using gcc.

 

Any ideas?

No ideas.  PS I was never able to get gcc to work for my under windows Solaris yes, Windows no.  What happens when you try to access more than 4 GBytes?
