64 Bit XP relaeased in beta

Welcome! If you have a 64-bit ready PC, you now have the option to receive trial software for Windows XP 64-Bit Edition for 64-Bit Extended Systems via CD or download. Read below about the different options for obtaining the pre-release software, and then use the links on the right to register to order the CD Kit or download product files. Please note that in either case, the pre-release software is time-limited and will expire in 360 days.

I wonder if anyone here has an AMD 64-bit system.

Great to have the 64 bit OS, but what programs are out there to take advantage of it?  Virtually none.

My guess is this is at least 3 years out from rollout.

Dell never sold a single computer with an AMD processor. The new AMD Athlon64 has some advantages over Pentium 4 and Itanium. So who knows Dell may change its mind.

Hardware is always ahead of software. We didn't have real 32-bit operating systems and applications for a long time since the 80386/80486/Pentium became avaialble. Yeah, even the very first generation Pentium (60MHz?) computers were sold with Windows 3.1. Don't know how long it's gonna take to see 64bit take off.

Yep yep. But there are already people buying this stuff. Especially since for the fact that these AMD processors are fully 32-bit compatible.
