A Plethora of Processes

When I bring up Task Manager it shows anything from around 73 to 80 or so processes. When I count the ones showing I get about 35. When I check 'show processes from all users' box then I get a bunch more. To wit:

WUDFhost.exe   (2 each)

csrss.exe  (2)

ati2evxx.exe  (2)

taskeng.exe  (3)

svhost.exe  (13) !?

These change slightly as time goes on. I am the only user so not sure where these indications are coming from. Thanks for any insight.

I have 88 processes running, simular to your counts, except for the atievxx.exe.  However atievxx is for ATI video cards and mine is a NVIDIA card.  The number of process is of far less importance the what the process are.  Is your system running OK, why worry

I just checked my Vista Home Premium system (the one I'm posting with now) and it shows 73 processes.  And, I have a relatively clean (very little at startup or running) machine.

OK...I was just wondering since my XP machine doesn't do it. Guess it is something inherent to Vista. :smileywink:
