BCMSMMSG.exe is your Modem driver. If you have the Dell Resource CD you can reinstall drivers with it.

Check in "Device Manager" for yellow ? or triangled !. You don't want to get back online till you know the

computer is clean.

Hopefully you can get help on the HiJack Forum.

I would love to access Device manager, but there are a lot of features that preswently do not function if they have anything to do with any kind of search. I can bring up the control panel and system properties, but when I open Device Drivers the entire window is blank.

The HiJack forum requires the HiJack log and this can't be provided because I can't access the internet or my local network.

If there is another forum to try please let me know.

I have discovered that my computer with the problem will not recognize my cd drives nor any of the USB ports so I can't find any way to get the HiJack program into that computer and without it that forum can't/won't provide any more assistance.

Where does one turn to get help with suggestions on how to recover the functionality of my computer?

Can you boot from the Dell Resource (aka Drivers & Utilities) CD or the Windows disk?  If you can then the drives are working correctly, and the problem with using them is in Windows.
