activating reinstalled windows xp

Hi, can anyone give me information on activating a reinstalled windows xp home edition?  I have tried with the online site and it will not accept my authorization code.  It says it is incorrect.  It is the one that came with the computer.  I tried calling customer service with microsoft and it is not a valid number.  I talked with a dell support and they want $99 for a call.  Help me please

When reinstalling Windows XP that came with your Dell, no key should be required.  If it asks for a key, make sure you're using Zeros or Ohs, and eights and B.

rjkmusic91,

From Windows XP Help and Support:

The Windows Product Activation Wizard is located in System Tools. To open a system tools item, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click the appropriate icon., then click Activate Windows.
Follow the activation instructions that appear on your screen.

The toll free number for Microsoft activation should be displayed when you follow the steps above.
