Active window going inactive

Hi,

I'm having a problem with Windows. Every ten minutes, approximately, the window/application that is currently active goes inactive by itself. I have searched for spyware and viruses both in regular mode and failsafe mode, and have also used different tests that exist on the Internet, e.g. Trend Micro's Housecall, but haven't found anything. Therefore the only conclusion I can come up with is that Windows is being annoying for some reason.
Does anyone have any idea for what's going on?

Just read your post. I have had that problem for months, and can't figure out a fix......I end up having to click the window I'm in each time I want to scroll or select anything. Hope someone has a helpful remedy!!

No, I hadn't seen that post, unfortunately after doing the same thing I can't find any one process that causes the problem. But thanks for replying and giving me the link to the other post.

Swedish_Platuea, Are you on the internet when this happens? Do you have Yahoo messenger installed? When this happens bring up task manager and see what is hogging cpu.If it is ypager.exe you may have a problem with the messenger.(especially if you are not on the net at the time).

Well, I have broadband so technically I'm always connected, but I don't use Yahoo Messenger and it happens even if I don't have any programs constantly being connected to the internet and such. Also about the Task Manager, I had it open when it happened a couple of minutes ago, but there weren't any process using up more cpu power than usual.

Actually, I've tried Hijackthis and checked for spyware and all that, but that wasn't the problem.
But I think I solved the problem, at least no window has gone inactive for at least an hour now. I tried checking the Task Manager again and noticed that one of F-Secure's processes took at least some cpu power more than usual when the window went inactive.
Apart from the active virus search and firewall the only thing I could think of was the automatic updates so I tried to deactive that and now everything seems to be working fine.
Huge thanks for helping me out.
