are you talking about the online-scanner at the symantec website, or an nav program on your pc?

if you mean the online security check at the symantec website, one option for things to try is to restore the default settings in ie/tools/options/security (internet zone).. alternatively you could put

http://security.norton.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

in the "trusted sites" zone in internet explorer/tools/options/security (with the default security settings), if you have active-x controls disabled in the settings for the "internet zone"..

maybe something else is preventing the downloading or the running of the active-x control for symantec's online security check.. if you are using zone alarm firewall or etrust ez firewall (part of the etrust ez armor package), in the firewall's settings, turn the "privacy" settings to "off".. (alternatively, you could customize the settings for the symantec website)

the nav antivirus program, if you have it installed on your pc and that is what you are referring to, should not need an "active-x control" in order for it to run.. however, if you are having a problem with it, try reinstalling it.. or, look in symatec's excellent knowledge base for help with a particular issue..

symantec will not offer any tech support for their online security check, as far as i know..
