Add or Remove Programs

Question

In 'add or remove programs' I have a Java (TM) 6 Update2.  The files have been deleted but in Add or Remove Programs it is still listed there but there is no 'Change or Remove' option.  I have went into regedit & searched.  I have looked into HKEY Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall & it is not there.  I looked very carefully in every file & folder.  I really don't understand how it connot be in the registry & still appear in the list?  I also did other searches on my PC & found nothing.  I no that it being in the list is not hurting anything but I just want to delete it & get a understanding how this happened. Thank you, Fred

Try using Windows Installer cleanup utility.  Something may be corrupt which is preventing you from deleting the entry.   http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
