Adding RAM to my Dimension 4500...

I own a Dimension 4500 with 256MB of DDR SDRAM. My question is, will it allow me to install another 512MB of DDR SDRAM? Or do I have to add the same amount that is already in there. I only have two slots. I dont have the money to buy two 512MB modules, but then again, just adding another 256 to make 512 wont quite be enough. So will my computer allow me to add 512MB so my computer will have 768MB of DDR SDRAM?

Unless someone disagrees ... I would say that any PC2100 Non-ECC Unbuffered DDR DIMM memory configuration will work in you computer in any combination (up to 1GB). If you buy 512MB stick, replace the existing 256MB module with it. Then place the old module (256MB) in the vacant slot.

Memory configuration by four major manufacturers (find model numbers):

Hope this helps.

Also, check to make sure that your RAM speeds will all be the same, and that your motherboard will support the speeds of the RAM.
