Adding to hosts file

I am enjoying blocking ads by using the 127.0.0.1 host files for websites. I downloaded host files. There are some I'd like to add, but it is tedious clicking on the shortcut to hosts file on my desktop, opening in notepad, and editing the host file. Is there a simpler way to add Internet addesses to the hosts file?
