If that happens to any/all programs I don't know what you can do to fix it; I'm assuming you're "process" includes re-installing the offending program(s), uninstalling from Add|Remove and rebooting immediately. For a workaround (if you're familiar with registry editing and the related dangers) look at what rude has to say in this link:

Some programs have their own uninstallers (in Programs) and normally work better.
