Admin password

right i was on my comp, sister pulled it out of the mains, i pulled it bak in switched it on and this message kept on appearing each time
 
Windows could not start because of an error in the software please report this problem as load needed DLLs for HAL contact your support systems persons.
 
we could dell for help and they wanted to charge us £57.09 for a service that might not even work so we put down the phone.  i tried to fix it myself and put some system recovery disk in now a new message comes up says window system root.dll or something like that is corrupt or has been removed... all i need to kno is does anyone kno how i can find out my administration password.. dell put windows on and like a tw4t i didnt read my owners manual :|
 
can anyone help?

windows could not start because the following file is missing or corupt:
\system32\hall.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file)  i cba so im just gonna repair windows but to do that i need an admin pass :|

We can help, but we need to know the specific model of your Dell, and the version of Windows XP (Home, Pro, Media Center) that you are using. Also, what is the "some system recovery disk" you inserted?

Hal.dll is the Hardware Abstraction Layer. This is a vital component of the XP operating system. One or some of us here on the forum can get you back up and running. The default administrator password is normally blank. If you've tried that, don't worry. We can help you clear any and all passwords on your system if necessary.  First things first. Model and version of XP?
