administrative privileges

I just got my Dimension and I received a message saying I had a critical down load from Dell for BIOS.  I tried to download, but it said I needed administrative privileges, so I set myself up with administrative privileges and it still won't work.  It still says I do not have those privileges.  What can I do now?

Right click on the file you downloaded and choose Run as Administrator.

Edit: I should mention that bios updates can be tricky. Download the update to your computer and close any open programs before you run it. Follow the directions on the download page carefully or get someone to help you. Even contact Dell support for help with this new computer.

No! What bios are you trying to update to? If it is 1.1.4 do not do this!!!!!
See Dimension Bios board for information.
You may fry your motherboard!

Good job once again Mary!

Your welcome Christy. Check here before doing anything with your bios. This has been an issue for almost 6 months now.

We have to be aware of this problem, many persons have installed that BIOS update because DellSupport says we have to, and then the computer doesn't turn on (That's why I said in another post I don't like that tool)...
Also this is not a problem with all the systems. on my E520 and E1505 the BIOS update didn't generated a problem.
On a XPS410 worked well too...

I agree GioAguilar. But the fact that the OP was brand new (1st day at the forum), and did not specify what system they had, wouldn't it be better to be safe than sorry? Suppose you had an E521 and were in this situation and installed the update, and then your mobo was fried?
