Adware? Spyware?

Hi:

Any program identified by (random letters).exe that is not found in a Google search is almost certainly a program you would not want in your PC.

What 2 anti-spyware programs are you running? There are many so-called "rogue" anti-spyware programs that actually install malware on your system.

Am running Ad-Aware 6.0 and Anonymizer's Spy Killer. Ad-Aware did catch it , but Spy Killer did not. It was a 180 Solutions Search Assistant spy. First time around, Ad-Aware did NOT catch it, but I ran it a second time, and got it. 180 Solutions got into my registry several times, and I thought I had caught all of its modifications, such as "saab" and "mssb". It wouldn't surprise me if there are still some other of their files in my registry which I haven't  caught. Anyway, thanks.

Anonymizer's Spy Killer was at one time regarded as rogue spyware, according to this reputable site:
spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm (Scroll down to 'Spyware killer). Depending on the version you
have, you might still be at risk. Recent versions are no longer regarded as 'rogues'.

Ad-aware 6.0 is no longer supported by Lavasoft. The most recent version is Ad-aware SE personal,
which you can download from here: Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05

I would also recommend you download Spybot S&D from here: SpyBot S&D 1.3

No anti-spyware program will pick up everything, but if you keep these 2 updated, they will pick up most.

if you go to the microsoft home page there is a antispyware beta version that is provided by windows, it is the second best removal software out there. it is a free download

Thanks. For all those who have been following this thread, I have to emphasize  how important it is to regularly check your Startup menu and Add/Remove Program menu. That's how I first discovered some of the spyware that had invaded my PC. Apparently no one spyware removal program catches everything. I now run three different ones regularly.

it depends though, because if you run to many spy ware programs it will slow you computer down to much, i reccomend running adaware and the microsoft one because the microsot one does the same thing as spybot, and it does it much better. having spybot running just slows things down
