Alternative to PC Diagnostic programs

Question

I just scanned my system using PC Doctor OnCall and horror of horrors, it found 157 'problems' with my computer.  Most of these are missing dll files or ActiveX controls (ocx).  Being cynical, I opted not to order the unlock key code for the program to correct these problems.  Now I am wondering how to resolve the problems myself.  I probably should be categorized as one of those individuals having just enough knowledge to be dangerous.   Advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.  Thanks

What problems, are you having any problems?  If not, do nothing.

You can give this a try but don't expect too much as for remedies although they have added some new features such as spyware lookup and tweak your PC. It's just a scan for problem areas and it's free:
