AMD 4200+ v/s Intel Dual Core

Friends,

It is generally known that AMD processors are far better in terms of graphics handling than Intel. Prior to the dual core technology, I had seen AMD Athlon working extremely good compared to the equivalent Intel.

Can anybody throw light on the comparison of AMD dual core in terms of all parameters v/s the Intel.

For the same reason, I have opted for 1 GB RAM and ofcourse a dedicated graphics 256 MB card i.e. Nvidia 7300 LE.

Regards,

As I understand, the AMD CPU's generally offer faster chips for the dollar and are considered better values than the Intel processors; the AMD prices have really dropped.  If you got Vista, 2G or memory (or better 3G) would have been nice.  Also, the 7300 LE will run Vista but beyond that it is a low-end card.  It has only 128 Mb dedicated memory and 128 Mb shared, it isn't a "real" 256 Mb graphics card.  With Vista and the advent of dx10, an Nvidia 8xxx series card like the 8600 GT or GTS, would be nice, or maybe something new from ATI.

Most benchmarks done by tech websites, magazines, etc. show the Intel Core 2 Duo line generally outperforming the top chips from AMD. The pentium D and Core Duo Intel processor families are not as efficient or powerful as the Athlon 64 X2 chips. However, the Core 2 Duo is a big step-up from the first dual-core chip designs by Intel. They have been outperforming the Athlon 64X2 processors from the get-go since their release last summer; Intel continues to make improvements to the Core 2 Duo line which has kept it as the top processor for mainstream systems. There are Quad-Core processors by Intel (maybe AMD, too?) but I'm not sure on those so I didn't include them in the comparison. Anyway, as of now, the Core 2 Duo is probably the top processor you can buy for mobile and desktop systems (definitely the most powerful cpu dell offers). Just my 2c

The real question is: will it work in an E521?
