i have a dell vostro 260, Windows 8 Pro
i have installed my sound driver Conexant HD Audio, (Latest version, i think released on 25th oct)
there is no problem with the sound... But the equalizer in the Conexant smart audio does not work...i have tried installing it compatible with win7 winxp sevicepack 3.....
while i was playing with the conex files in the programme files the equalizer worked for just 1 time and i didn't know what i did... after restart it doesn't work any more......

Hi mhasom,
This issue might happen due to incorrect installation, so request you to use the below link and download chipset and Audio driver:
http://dell.to/Xgpg58 Chipset
http://dell.to/VynGek Audio
Before installing Audio driver, uninstall it by following the below steps:
(1) Click on start
(2) Type Programs and features in search box and hit enter
(3) In the programs and features menu please uninstall Conexant Audio driver.
If you have any further questions, please reply to the same post.

Hi mhasom,
I request you to give more information about the issue. What happens when you try to move the equalizer up/down?

Hi mhasom,
Thank you so much for all the information. But I request you to check if the same issue happens after connecting a headset and reply with your findings.

usually i use headset...
but it doesn't work with either headset or speaker system. (front jack or rear jack)
equalizer is the only problem. all other functions in conaxent smart audio work is working.
i thought u were gone, but thanks u are back :)

The Conexant installer for Windows 8 appears to be very poorly done. Upon first installation (directly after fresh Windows 8 and Intel chipset) the EQ refused to be activated.
I tried reinstalling the driver after everything else is installed. It wouldn't work.
A little bit later, for reasons beyond me, the Dolby EQ somehow springs to life.
Then, for verification purpose I went and removed the driver and reinstalled it. This time it's dead again. So mhasom is not alone in this. Something's gone seriously south in this Windows 8 installer. That's problem #1.
Here's problem #2.
The Conexant installer uses what appears to be Windows 95 graphics... This is on Windows 8! In year 2012! Sure, one might argue that this kind of graphics is pretty much in line with Microsoft's "less is more" philosophy, as can be observed in Windows 8 UI. In any modern OS however, dialog box like the one above either stands for "no money for art department", or "driver is mind-blowingly obsolete". Whatever it stands for, it does not instill confidence in its users.
