AOL problems

I have an dimension 8200, and it was running well till i got High speed. I have a Road Runner cable modem. Now when i sign on AOL, I lose connections sometimes for hours. And when i open/send emails or send IMs and hour glass comes up for a like 4 seconds and freezes before it opens or sends... I contacted AOL about this and they told me my Ram Is low. I don't know how to get it back to normal so I defrag my computer and empty the Bin.  And i am still am having this problems. I ran adware and spyware programs. I think the deleted the spyware programs they found but still I my AOL is slowed down. Around the same time I started to have these problems I installed a firewall provided by AOL. I looked for viruis with nortan but it came back clean.

Can someone help me on what to do?

I Have used AOL for years.  And a friend of mine used to tell me all the time when I complain about having problems with my computer, to change from aol.  Well finally I did, I reboot my computer took aol out of the system and change to MSN.  My problems are gone.  AOL have too much going on, trying to get ahead, but they can not deal with their own issues.  They don't even know their system.  Technical support is not even fully train.  they just read what their computer tells them.
