I don't quite understand what you mean by Applet display. Which applet?

Or do you mean when you click on a link to a web page, Internet Explorer opens but does not show pictures, or are you clicking on a link to some file? More details might help me and others to help you resolve the problem.

I will try to explain. When I click on a link sometimes the window opens with a small box in the top right hand corner containing a red square, green circle and blue triangle, it can be in an email or on any window I open on or off the net when I am surfing. I hope this helps as I am an absolute beginner at computing. Thanks

I had the same problem a few days ago with Java applets not working and having the box with the circle/square/triangle.

1 - On Internet Exployer, click Tools/Internet Options/Advanced
Scroll down to "Microsoft VM"
Make sure that "JIT Compiler for Virtual Machine" is enabled. If it's already enabled, go to step 2 below. If not enabled, enable it and reboot and see if this fixes your problem.
2 - Go to http://www.virtualmachine.tk/ and download virtual machine version 5.00.3805. The download module is called: sjavx86.exe
Execute this module.

That fixed the problem for me. It took several days of research. However, be aware of the following:

1. This is a reinstall of Microsoft Virtual Machine, NOT of SUN'S JAVA. There's a difference. You can run a scan for msjavx86.exe and if it's there, you're probably running MSVM. Check the version number of it. It could be possible yours got deleted, mine was there, just broken (never did figure out why). The other Java you can run on your machine is Sun's Java. If you can't get the above fixed, you can go to http://java.com/en/index.jsp and download their version. From what I've read, if you're using MSVM, stick with it.

2. Be SURE you download version 3805 IF your version is 3805 and not 3809 or 3810. These are updates to 3805. You could try the lastest 3810 and it could work. But you MUST have 3805 on your system before 3810 will install. Get 3805 loaded and hopefully you're in business. It's your option to then update with 3810 (I didn't).

Yes, just install version 5810. I remember reading you can't install a lower version number anyway. The download module has a long name with lots of numbers and letters.

The reason you're downloading from this site and not Microsoft is because Microsoft has stopped supporting Java and they no longer have the download.

Good luck. And let me know if this works.
