'ASSERTION FAILED' in Windows XP (Java or MS Virtual Machine Problem?)

Here is a problem that numerous tech support people have not been able to solve for me for the last 12 months. When loading certain websites that utilize java or MS Virtual Machine, I get an ASSERTION FAILED message from XP. Here's an example while using the latest versions of Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer: ASSERTION FAILED Program C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 7\Netscp.exe File ../../../SRC/Share/Native/Sun/AWT/.../FontObject.cpp Line 506 Expression: errno==0&& count++(size_t)size See Visual C++ doc on asserts. The error box gives three options, ABORT, RETRY, IGNORE In order to get the web script to run on my machine, I have to select IGNORE. Then the app continues to load and run. However, when I do a screen resize while using the app, the screen (and all CPU activity) freezes. The only way to get anything to respond again is to left click on the minimize button (-) in the upper right hand corner of the browswer window AND drag my mouse pointer off of the minimize button while holding the left mouse button down. (If I just click on the minimize button, the browser window minimizes as it should). I have talked to Dell Tech support, MS tech support, Sun Microsystems tech support and the tech support for all of the websites I use that utilize these Java or Virtual Machine scripts. They have had me uninstall/reinstall Java Virtual Machine, Do complete windows updates from the MS site, etc. but the problem is still there. This has been a problem since I purchased this Dell Inspiron 8200 with Windows XP Pro a year ago. I have another system at home with Windows XP Home and this problem does not occur on it. Any ideas?
