Auto Restore Points Not Being Set

I have three machines with XP, all clean installs.  One of them doesn't set automatic restore points.  It does allow you to set manual points.  I turned off restore, erasing all points, then set it on again.  Still, not auto restore points are ever set.

Ideas welcome.

As the previous link probably said, restore points are only set automatically at system idle times.  In other words when your system is on and no mouse or keyboard activity is taking place.  They usually happen around the 10 to 15 minute mark of idle time.  No screensaver can be running either.  Kip

Been there, checked all of that, but appreciate the reference.

System sits idle for hours at a time, and there is no screen saver...  Good ideas, thanks for the input.

If you have Real Player installed, try uninstalling it
I read it in several internet newsgroup messages. Here are some examples..

Thanks for the suggestion.  Those seem to point to restore points being lost.  The manual points that I have stay just fine, just no automatic points are set.  I do have Real, just the free player, as do my other two machines that set System Checkpoints automatically just fine, so I don't think that's the cause.

Unlikely but could you have SR set to Manual in Services or something SR-related unchecked in msconfig/Services ? If no, try sfc or reinstall SR(.inf) by context menu/Install.

It's set to Auto .

There are no errors in the Event Viewer.  It's not trying to set them.
