Auto Update Error Window

Question

When I signed on today, the error msg window came up.  I have rebooted and everything and it still pops up.  It still has the same time as the first one that popped up.  So it isn't a new one each time.   'Automatic Updates encountered a problem and needed to close. This error occurred on 5/19/2005 at 10:56 AM   Error Details:  szAppName:  wuauclt.exe szAppVer:  5.4.3790.2182 szModName:  wuauclt.exe szModVer:  5.4.3790.2182 Offset:  0000b635   Error report contents:  Files included   C:\DOCUME~1\Nana\Locals~1\Temp\WER0836.dir00\wuauclt.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\Nana\Locals~1\Temp\WER0836.dir00\appcompat.txt   I need help to get this off.  Whether I click Send or Don't Send it goes off and comes right back.

Have you tried turning off automatic updates, rebooting, running 'Disk Cleanup', rebooting, and then turning auto updates on again?

Also, have you scanned your system for viruses using current definitions from your antivirus vendor, in case it's the W32/Rbot-UG network worm? Jim
