Backslash not working

(Crossposting in Laptopts/General Hardware)

Latitude XT with belgian keyboard layout and vista 32 bit.

The key with the 'backslash', 'less than' and 'greater than', situated next to the left shift is not working. Tried belgian comma, and belgian point layouts with no success

I now it's not a hardware failure, as the hardware test on the utility boot seems to be OK, although there is no belgian KB layout to perform the test, at least the key itself reacts when pressed. When googling for the problem I've noticed some identical problerms, but nowhere a solution for this...

Anyone a suggestion? It's quite annoying as it's impossible to type network paths with this machine...

Have you tried an external keyboard to verify that it is only the keyboard?  If that proves to be the case, you will need a new internal keyboard for the laptop.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. Connected an external keyboard and that works fine. Machine is newly installed and already it's broken :mansad:

I can't say the keyboard itself is broken, as the key test fine with the system test on the utility partition.

Reinstalling from DVD solved the problem.

i suppose there must be some error in the image that comes with the machine.
