Base System Device drivers for Latitude E5500

I recently installed Windows 7 on my Latitude E5500. All the drivers were installed correctly but the 'Base System Device' driver couldn't be installed. I tried the 'Search Automatically for the updated driver software' option but no driver could be found. Would anyone know where I can find the 'Base System Device' driver?

All the Dell drivers for this model and Windows 7 32 bit are  HERE    Have you checked the Dell downloads?

FYI, there is a correct and required install sequence for Dell's.  Although Windows 7 does install a lot of drivers there can be problems with the Dell proprietary hardware and some drivers that Windows installs will not work or as you have found out are missing.

The install sequence is (1) Instlall Windows (2) Install Dell Laptop System Software (3) Install motherboard chipset drivers (4) Install device drivers including video, Dell sound drivers, ethernet, etc.

I also had the same problem on our company E5500. I eventually found that this refers to the Ricoh R5C847 memory card reader,you can grab the latest driver version from the following link;

Best Regards

The Ricoh R5C847driver fixed my issue with the "Base System" error.
