Best security w/cable modem?
I recently installed a cable modem on my D8300 (XP2 w/firewall). Is my computer secure when the computer is shut down or should the modem also be disconnected? Is there another Firewall available that can be ran in tandem with the XP firewall without conflict? Is it better to disable the XP Fwall and run the replacement only?

libz9,
I'm pretty sure that if you turned off your computer you will be okay regarding bad stuff from the 'net.
Regarding firewalls, it's is best to have only a single firewall running at a time. While some people feel the Windows XP SP2 firewall is good enough, I suggest turning it off and getting a third-party firewall like ZoneAlarm, McAfee, or Norton's and using that. That's just a personal preference, BTW.
