BIOS update error
I have an Optiplex GX1 [Tag TQS 12], 400 Mhz, Pentium II [WIN 98SE, IE6] with BIOS version A06. BIOS upgrades range from A07 to A10. I tried to download A07 (as GX1_A07.exe) but got the error message
"Cannot run under a protected envirnment
ROM update not performed [Flashing white box]"
This message may be intelligible to specialists, but not to a home PC user like me. My questions are:
1. Which of the listed Bios updates is appropriate for my system?
2. What does the message mean and what steps should I take to fix the problem?
Thanks for any helpful suggestions. Zelix

Unless you are having difficulty with your computer and a BIOS update specifically addresses that difficulty, there is no need to update your BIOS, and in fact updating is not recommended except in those instances.
