Black screen on boot after adding hard drive

Question

Hello.

I just installed Promise ULTRA ATA PCI controller for my Dimension 8400. After connecting a hard drive to it, I can not boot my windows xp any more. There is only black screen and that's it. I was trying to change boot sequence but it doesn't help. I'm pretty sure this is the problem with Windows XP, not hardware.

Any hints?

No, there is no operation system there. When I explicitly boot from that disk (I can change boot sequence in BIOS) then it says that there is no operating system on the disk and it just hangs.
