Blinking hourglass??????

Me again. Since my other problem started, which I listed on this board, I've got another problem. Directly to the right of my pointer is the hourglass which you usually only see when the computer is opening a site or program, and it flashes constantly. Why is this and how do I fix it?

misfit1970,

It doesn't look like this is getting much attention.  You might consider posting this on other forums and see what happens.  Try http://www.google.com and see if anybody there has information for you.

I will keep it posted here and hopefully somebody will have an answer for you.

I wish somebody who knows what causes this would give it some attention and reply. I have the same thing happening when certain programs are running, e.g. Media Source Recorder. The blinking pointer to hourglass results in a flashing of the contents in windows explorer at the same time. I know it isn't that my system resources are low because I have checked that and it isn't the refresh rate of the display because I have that set to the g highest value, 75, my monitor will support. Flashing also happens at setting of 60 though.

Have you checked your mouse settings. It's a cursor for the mouse that's blinking. You can get to the mouse properties in the Control Panel.

I am beginning to think that this quirk is perfectly normal, at least in my case. The pointer blinking to the hourglass is Window's way of telling you something is working in the background, and I only notice it when certain applications are running, such as recording music with my sound card. I am going to stop being concerned about it.
