Blu-Ray Player doesn't work after installing Windows 10

On my XPS 8300, the BD-RE (PLDS DH-8B2SH) shows as a drive but does not show up in the list of devices, and doesn't recognize information on discs (doesn't matter what type).  After spending time trying to read the disc, it just ejects and says please insert disc.  I tried to update the driver but when I do, it says the driver is already up to date.  Any ideas?

Not sure from your post if it shows up in Device Manager? Is that how you tried to update the driver; through Device Manager?

Do you have the most recent firmware installed? A search on Dell support for the device might help.

I had some luck with a "confused" CD/DVD device a while back by uninstalling it through Device Manager, rebooting, and letting the OS rediscover/reinstall. Please note that I have NO idea if this is a good thing for you to try with your issue.

Good luck.

Insert a cd with files on it such as music--not a dvd with video. Windows 10 media player cannot play video. You have to add a dvd player program to play video dvds. Media Center is not compatible with windows 10 and has been removed. You will need to install a blu ray player program. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/dvd-playback-help
