blue error screen on shutdown or log off (HELP)
Hello, I am running a Dimention 8300 series Dell. with windows XP Home Edition. I have been getting a hang when we log off of our user. My husband and I are two different users. We can switch users but not log off or we hang with only the desktop visible. Today I tried to restart my machine and I got a blue error page which read as follows:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.
Check to be sure you have adequete disk space. If drivers identify in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. Disable bios memory options, such as cacheing or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart our computer. Press F8 to select advanced startup options and then select safe mode.

So this is the gyst of the error message. I had my 8300 dimention upgraded when I bought it, so I actually have all the dimentions of an 8400 series. I have a good sound card and a good video card and 512 ram. My husband in now using this for school business and we have installed quickbooks 2005 basic. Does this have anything to do with this. I have one hard drive. Please respond as I am the one that loves computers but I have only been at it for a couple of years. Please help. Thank you menmom

This is likely to be a hardware driver problem. Do you happen to have a Logitech mouse? If so, unintall the Logitech Mouseware software and go to their site to download an updated version.
If that does not apply, take a look at this site for some information on Stop Error messages:
