Blue Screen-Can't get into Windows-HELP!

Please help...When I turn on my computer, it get's as far as the Windows XP screen with the little green bar that shows it's loading. Then the screen just turns completely blue with the little hour glass and I can't get any further. It will just sit there like that for hours. I had to use my computer at work to post this message.  If anyone has encountered this problem and can help me, please reply. I know how to use my computer, but when it comes time to fix something, I am at a loss.  Thanks in advance for any advice...Jennifer

OK, you have Windows XP. 

  1. Was it installed on the computer or is this an upgrade? (from what?)
  2. Were you ever able to get into Windows XP?
  3. What change occurred prior to this inability to load Windows?  (new video card?  new drivers?  new application?)
  4. Are you able to get into Windows in Safe mode?

It sounds as though there is a hardware error here or something has corrupted your Windows files.  Please respond with the answers to the above questions so we can know where to begin to look.
