Blue Screen Error - HELP!!!
Hi all,
I have a Inspiron 9400/E1705, with a least 10 Gb of pictures I want to recover. Unfortunately a blue screen error appears saying:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0X000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.
I did run the diagnostic and al the test passed without errors. I tried to use Media Direct and it does work, I can see pictures and film stored inside.
1) How can i solve the blue error?
2) Before reset to factory default how can I recover all my HD content?
Any help would be much appreciated,
Poncho

Below is something I found. Saw several references to the HotFix being a problem. You should search on the .error yourself to see other posts
Hotfix number KB890859 is the culprit.
go here to remove it.
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/spuninst.htm
cd:\windows
chdir $NtUninstallKB890859$\spuninst
BATCH spuninst.txt
(It copies back some deleted files.)
Type exit
and restart and enter in Safe Mode.
goto Start>Programs>Acessories>system tools>system Restore
Choose a date before you installed the microsoft updates
follow the steps.

KirkD,
Would I loose my data doing this recovering?
There is any way to back up my hard disk before doing any intervention?
Thanks,

Doing a system restore to an earlier date won't lose any of the image files Mario?
But you can boot into Safe Mode (F2), and backup all your important files to CD/DVD, pendrive, or external hard drive, before you follow Dave's advice, and do the system restore.
You really ought to have had the images backed up long before now though, if they're that important to you :emotion-55:
