When do you get that error message? Can you get to desktop?

From desktop, click start>run
type in: chkdsk c: /f
click ok
You'll get a message offering to run chkdsk at next boot. Accept that offer and reboot. chkdsk will run before XP loads again.

Have you read this:

If you never received the XP CD, read this:

I am unable to get to the desktop because I am unable to boot my cp. I get as far as the boot screen at which point it gives me five options: Safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last know configuration and my last option is to boot windows XP normally. All five options lead me to the blue screen displaying the stop error that I have listed above.

What color are 4 LEDs on rear of 8400 when you get BSOD?

You're probably going to need an XP CD, so read this:

turns out in all the computers dell made after 2004, Dell installed this thing called Symantec into the pc itself. So as soon as you see the splash screen at the very beginning, if you hold down the Ctrl key and hit F11 and then let them both go after a few seconds it takes you to this menu where you can restore your pc to how it was when you first got it from Dell as good as brand new. So since we were unable to do any recovery or repair, that's what we did. A system restore and we started from scratch.

Thanks for sharing that info. You did a PC Restore. Only problem with that is all your personal files and any software you installed were all lost so I hope they were backed up on external media.

And don't forget you now have to reinstall all Microsoft updates for XP, Internet Explorer, Office, etc. Do that ASAP so you don't risk malware infections.

Good lock!
