Blue screen: 'Unmountable Boot Volume' error
Okay, so, sorry if this is the wrong forum, but whatever, I want my computer fixed.
I have an Inspiron 6000 laptop, which has never given me any trouble in the past. I attempted to boot up windows XP, however, and got my first ever blue screen, reading the 'Unmountable Boot Volume' error. It suggested going into safe mode, which I did after restarting. However, the same screen popped up, and I can't start windows at all, no matter how I approach it.
Ran the diagnostics, and everything passed. No recent hardware/software changes... I just typically use the computer for homework, anyway. Battery and cable's fine... Pretty sure it's not the file system.
... Help?
P.S. I apologize in advance for my stupidity, for I am young and dumb and all of this technical stuff is lost on me, for the most part. I just want to get the computer up and running without losing all of my data.
Final edit, more or less: Called technical support, and either I fried up my hard drive, or I got some virus. Either way, I'm still under warranty, luckily, and some guy will come out with a new one and install it.
... Except I lose everything. Gah. Oh well, I suppose.
