Blue screen with hardware error message.

I keep getting this blue screen whenever my computer goes to hibernate. It tells me there was a hardware or software parity problem and that it had to stop. The only thing I can do to use my computer again is to shut it down with the power button. I have uninstalled most of the new software that I may have installed that could be causing it but it still seems to do it when it goes into standby or into hibernate. Anyone have any suggestions.

Always include the system model and verson of Windows in your posts. :(

Hibernate and Standby are typically used for laptops to conserve battery power, and have been notoriously troublesome with desktops. If this is a desktop you may want just to have Windows turn off the hard drive and monitor after a set period of type rather than use Hibernate or Standby.

Possible your screensaver is corrupted? Test a different one.

Have you scanned for malware lately?

Try running a windows system file check (sfc).

sfc:
click start>run
type in: sfc /scannow
(space between sfc and /)
click ok
Insert XP CD if sfc requests it and reboot when it's done.
