Blue stop screen - Can't reformat computer either...

My computer is a Laptop Inspiron 600m. Whenever I turn on my computer, it loads the initial "Dell" screen. Then as it is loading the "Windows" screen, it crashes and goes to the blue stop screen; displaying the following message:

Stop: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF89736D4, 0xF89733D0, 0xF83F9F81)

Ntfs.sys - Address F83F9F81 base at F83AA0001, Datestamp 41107eea

I hate tried booting my Windows XP CD, however that does not do much. The Windows XP CD loads alright, but if I press "R" to repair then it crashes to the same blue screen. If I press "Enter" to reinstal Windows XP, it crashes and goes to the same blue screen.

So as you can see...I am out of luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ask, if you need further information on my laptop.

Thanks,

Roman Rozhok

It has been happening for the past 2 days and I have been online (on a different computer obviously) trying to figure out what's wrong with it.

romanrozhok,

From this site the following information about your error:

A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step; then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. Update all disk, tape backup, CD-ROM, or removable device drivers to the most current versions.

A Microsoft KB articles that may help is here.

romanrozhok,

Sitel Tech suggestion is the next step if a repair reinstall is impossible. Instructions for a parallel isntallation are here and instructions for a full clean reinstall are here.

romanrozhok,

Go to Start|Run, enter chkdsk /f and click OK. You will have to restart the computer to run the program. If you are unable to log on in Normal Mode try running it in Safe Mode (select Safe Mode from the menu that appears when you start tapping F8 as the computer starts).

romanrozhok,

That happens because you are not booting from the XP CD. If you do, any problem with the NTFS file system will not be detected. You must change the boot order in BIOS to place your CD-ROM drive as the first boot device. See this.
