Bluetooth mouse not working

Hi, my bluetooth mouse installed and worked fine for the first two weeks, it has suddenl;y stopped. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the installation CD, checked the 'net for driver updates (none), restarted the computer several times, and yelled loudly at both the mouse and computer (:D)....it is a Dell Travel Mouse that came free with the Inspiron 1720, I am running Vista (obv). Dell Self Help and Troubleshooting have been useless and difficult to use (esp with no mouse! I am old skool and not a fan of touchpads!).

Has anyone come across this problem themselves?

OK I have replaced the batteries, and though it appeared at first to be a dodgy connection in the battery compartment, replacing them and pulling the metal connector out a bit to ensure a tighter fit have not made a difference. In fact, when I removed it from the bluetooth list and tried to add it again, my computer now says it cannot find it.

Frustrating! Thanks for the idea though, but looks like there is something else going on.

Hi
press the blue tooth button underneath next to the on/off button and see if recognised. also press the bluetooth button on your blue-tooth usb key attached to the note book.

Hi snowshine, mine is notebook. I thought that, but the light is still on underneath. Still I will give it a go....btw it is listed in Bluetooth device list. I'll find the batteries and see if that works.

Hi zephyrjet
Try new batteries. It sounds like the batteries are run-down.

Mine is a desk top computer with the Dell's bluetooth mouse. I do not know if yours is the same?!

Thanks snowshine!

My notebook has inbuilt bluetooth and I can't find any button on the computer itself anywhere. However, when I ran the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard, and pressed the blue button on the mouse WHILE it was searching, it picked it up and now it works.

First time a forum post has resolved a problem for me....thanks.

If this happened after sleep mode, this is a known issue and MS is working on a fix.
My BT Mouse dies after Sleep and won't restart unless I 're-find' it or restart my XPS.

I contacted MS and they responded with Hot Fix for KB Article Number(s): 929577 but when I ran it, it said my system was not compatible with the update.
