Have you scanned for and removed all spyware using several different spyware scannes?

I have run spybot, HT and everything else on my PC. Could I simply reinstall the IE after saving favorites?

If you do not have SP2 to Windows XP installed you can reinstall IE using the procedure here. Note that in that document it shows that if SP2 is installed you must reinstall XP to reinstall IE.

   The scannow box ran to completion, closed and nothing else happened. All my wordpad documents and calculator are missing from accessories as well.

I did a system restore and fixed the lost documents. Since the scannow box closed does that indicate there are no file problems?  If I want to reinstall IE and will have to save the bookmarks, but I can't get the links to save.
