Boot-Screen Lock up Problems.

I was playing with some boot screens from themexp.org, and I got one to work. However, afterwards, I deleted some boot files when I thought I made backup files, so now I can not boot up my computer. I have tried making a boot disk and it won't work. Is there any way to restore or recover my computer without losing my data?

My screen says:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
/sysyem32/hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file,"

Also I tried the system restore cltrl+f11 and got it to work once, but I cancelled it when I saw that all my harddrive would be erased. Now I can not go back to the same screen no matter how many times i press cltrl+f11.

I put in a XP home edition w/ SP2 installed on my laptop. However, I only have the XP professional CD and now I can't see the "Welcome to Setup screen" and therefore could not choose repair. I have found a microsoft xp home edition boot disk, but it requires floppy drives to install but I don't have a A: drive on my inspiron. Is there any way else I could do it. Also, how do I run system restore manually. I tried the ctrl+f11 but it won't work.

I don't understand your message.  You need to boot from a CD with the same version of Windows that you have on your computer.
