BOOTMGR MISSING -CANT'T LOAD VISTA

CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE

I HAVE INSPIRON 9400 LAPTOP AND I'M GETTING ERROR SAYING BOOTMGR MISSING - MY HARD DRIVE IS FORMATED AND BIOS DOES NOT SEE IT -I TRIED TO DO REPAIR OPTION BUT NOTHING WORKS - IS IT EASYER TO REPLACE HARD DRIVE OR WHAT - I HAVE VISTA REINSTALATION DISC - VISTA BUSINESS

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

If the bios does not see the hard drive you may want to take the hard drive out and reseat it. If that still does not work you may need to replace the harddrive. If it does see the drive then boot to the Vista disc and see if it will install.  For instructions on reseatting or replacing your hard drive click the title below.

thank you for the answer

i did take hd out and tried to relod the vista - now is giving me the error  "windows could not update registry data in installation" - thats after i start loding the windows and it comes to point of pasinng  copuing windows files - expanding files - installing updates - then i get the error.

about the bios - do you mean if it shows the hd in bios under the system or onboard devices section ?

it shows under the system
