Burning Cd's windows media player

Question

hello   I need a lot of help  I just purchased a brand new dellpcket DJ and I have discovered the world of listening to music on line.  as a result I want to start burning my own cd's and creating music  the problem is when I go to windows media player I can listen to music BUT when I click on the burning a cd option it says that there is no burn drive and there is no cd available.  I do have a CD in there and its a recordable disc   I am not very computer savy and I am wondering if I need to buy software to burn cd's.  any advice would be helful.

I have an inspiron 1100 nitebook computer   this was helpful how would I even check to see if I have a cd burner period?? and then how do I get one if I don't have one   I have no clue  the computer is almost two years old

What model PC? (there are many different Dell models).

Also are you sure you have a CD burner in the PC? All Dell PC's that have a CD or a DVD/CD burner come with a CD burning program. Older Windows XP PC's came with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, new PC's for the last year or so came with Sonic Record Now. If you don't have a CD burning program on your PC there is a good chance you do not have a CD burner.
