Hi,

What model and series computer?

What operating system Pro or Home and to what service pack?

Have you carried out full AV & Spyware scans?

Any new hardware or software?

Double click My Computer> Double click Local Disk (C)>Double click Windows folder> Double click System 32 folder> search for "CMD" file, right click, select create shortcut, move the shortcut to the programs list on start menu.

sbaldev,

Locate Command Prompt (should be in C:\Documents and Settings\ One account\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories. When you find it, right-click it and select Properties. On the dialog that opens click the "Change icon" button. Click the Browse button and browse for the icon file in C:\Windows\System32\Cmd.exe.

You could also add open command prompt to the folder context menu (the menu you get when you right click on any folder in Windows Explorer or My computer):

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

line 26 left column

that is handy if you want to open the command prompt in a given folder rather than C:\ (saves having to use cd command to navigate to a particular folder)
