c000021A Fatal System Error
I have an Inspiron E1505 and this morning after restarting my computer I started getting this message. I cannot get to the windows log-in screen. The screen simply sits blank for a minute or two, and then brings up the c000021a fatal error message. I took it to my college computer helpdesk today but after 2+ hours of fooling around with it they couldnt provide me with a solution. Anyone have any ideas I could try on my own, even with only limited computer knowledge? Just hoping I don't have to use the reformatting tool and loose all my files... but thats really the only solution I can think of. Thanks for the help in advance.

0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1561.)
This occurs when Windows switches into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsystem (CSRSS), is compromised. Security can no longer be guaranteed. Because Win XP can’t run without Winlogon or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode service can cause the system to stop responding. This Stop message also can occur as a result of malware infestation or when the computer is restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions so that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access system files and folders.
This is a tough one, I suggest removing the hard drive and put it in an external USB hard drive enclosure, connect the enclosure to another PC and run a AV scan on the entire drive, then copy off any data you need, then put the HD back in the laptop and re-install XP Clean.
The only other possible solution is to try a repair of XP, if it boots normally, back up your important data first thing, the problem may return after the first reboot of the system, then reinstall XP Clean.

Try rebooting and pressing F8 before Windows starts to load. Select "last known good' from the menu. If that works, shut down normally and reboot normally.
