Pacman's portal has a huge list of start-up programs that you can download. It will tell you what they are and if they are necessary or not.

My suggestion is to write down what is in your start-up file as this list is huge. It is in alphabetical order and would be easier to look up that way. Also as a note: I have a Dell 4600 and just ran a battery of test at Pcpitstop http://www.pcpitstop.com/ Which also said my cache and uncache speed was very low. As a lot of Dell computer users were. They have autofixes and a great forum. If this isnt the site you used to run your test you may want to look into it.

Good luck!

i got my results from pc pitstop . after you completed the recommendations did your uncached, cached speed come back better? most people said there was little differents after removing a lot of start-ups.am going out on limb here, but is dell gambling on consumers never reaching the compacites of their systems? because i thought i had a high end computer...untill i took that test.

I am still working on deciding what I want to do with certain programs. I already have the intel accelerator, which was one of their suggestions. I run alot of security programs so I am sure they slow me down a little. Try to go to the test forum of pitstop and they will have some good suggestions. When I finish tweaking my computer I will run the test again and let you know if it helped. Good luck!
