Vista should be able to manage the photos with no issues. I like you hate to install these junky programs so what I susually do is extract (decompress, unzip, ect) the program to a Temp Folder to get at the needed driver then delete that folder.
Nearly all .exe files are a complilation of drivers with a Windows Installer Package tying it all together.
Meant to add this with other response -- No I don't have a media card reader. I didn't think/or know about needing a media card reader when I configured the pc (primarily for photos, no less) ... and I confirmed I don't have one -- yet. Talked with Dell and it's a relatively easy, inexpensive option. So thanks to both responses.
