Can anyone help me with this VISTA Problem.
I can not seem to find a driver for Pentax optio 330 so I suppose I have to spend more money to retrieve my pictures with a usb card reader.......any suggestions before I spend more friggen money.
Also when I plug my camera in and open up camera and scannera / add device  the only manufacturer that comes up is xerox....pro scanner..which I do not have

As many cameras, you just need to plug the USB cable to the computer and the computer recognize as an external hard drive or mass storage.
and It doesn't need drivers.
Is this your camera
If it is, you don't need drivers, just plug the USB cable.

did you go directly to the manufacturer website of the camera?
I had the same issue with my kodack but I found the solution on there site so my camara works fine on vista

You just need to go to Start => Computer => and look for your camera, guessing it will be drive G (if you have two optical drives DVD/DVDRW)

You don't need to do anything but plug it in. You should then get a dialog box which asks what you want to do. Select the way you want to download your pics and you're good to go. If Vista has a driver for your camera (or whatever), it will not show you any options to install it, just does it. Don't need to (and can't)  manually install it. As GeoAguilar stated, you will see the camera as a new drive letter when plugged in.

plugging is correct but you may need to check one more thing.   I cant say for sure on the Pentax but many cameras have two modes for USB connection   check in the camera manual or just go through the camera setup menues  to see if there is a mode setting for the USB connection and set it to a setting that is someting like Mass storage  or personal computer    if that mode doesn't work try the other mode.

I dont have a Pentax digital  my Nikon has these modes and so does my wifes Kodak   in the correct mode windows will see it as a external drive. the other it will see it as a device that wont do much unless you have the manufactures S/W installed.  the software is usually lame and a pain anyway and I never use it.

In addition, some cameras need to be switched to the picture review mode before being recognized.
