Can't reinstall Java
Hi..My first post. Somehow I was persuaded my Secunia that my version of Java was uinsecure and told to uninstall before downloading new version. I have XP media edition. When I go to the site and download I get ERROR 25099. It won't unzip for install. Java.com is of limited help. They wan't me to uninstall the version I have, which is none. Then tell me as aworkaround to either run cmd and delete Java Quick Start...It isn't running.
The only instances I see fot Java on my pc are in Program files /Java/Jre/bin. I do have version 601.30.3 which seems to mbe the correct one. Should I open it? I don't want to mess things up further but I need Java for lots of things. If no one can help can you at least point me in the right direction to get it? Thanks.

marieo,
Error: 25099 during Java installation
First, let's make sure your computer has the latest Windows Updates, especially .net framework, needed to run many applications and the latest Java.
Using Secunia, sometimes all you have to do is navigate to the folder. If you put your mouse over the folder first, it will tell you the file that make it insecure, in this case it's java.exe
Delete Java.exe, then go and empty the recycle bin as Secunia will fine it there.
