can not install delldock- get error message

Question

Somehow my delldock is missing. I download the latest version at delldock.com and when I try to install it, I get an error message box saying: 'the installer has insufficient privleges to access this directory: c\programdata\dell\delldocl\BRZ\shortcuts. I tried running as administrator, tried installing while running in safe mode, turned on the 'secret' administrator login. all with the same results. Delldock has worked fine since I got the computer and even when I upgraded to Win7 professional. I scoured these forums and others and tried everything suggested. i.e. ran revouninstaller, deleted the stardock folders, ran sfc /scannow, rebooted many times. took ownership of all folders on C:, checked permissions in the security tab for the program data folder. Start, control panel, folder options, view, show hidden files and folders.

Download Search Everything and install it.

Type...

Dell Dock

Everything it finds, delete it.

Restart the computer.

Now try installing Dell Dock

Thanks for the reply. Installed search everything and deleted all delldock entries it found and rebooted. Still can not install delldock. New error message: "the installer has insufficient prileges to access this directory C:\program data\dell\delldock\shortcuts. What's strange is if I logoff my account and logon in "secret" administrator account, dell dock program works there, but not for my personal account.

Mark, Create a new Unrestricted Account and install it there. I'm thinking that maybe something is corrupt in your user profile. Rick

Create a new user profile with Admin Access, possible User profile corruption.
